W4TA back in Contest Mode…New Antennas Work Great

With the completion of the relocation of our Log Periodic antenna on our new tower and the erection of a temporary dipole for 40M/80M, W4TA is on the air. The tower puts the antennas up around 55 feet. And boy do they work well in combination with the Alpha 9500 amplifier. We inaugurated the antenna/amplifier combination in the CW Sweepstakes contest, the oldest contest in amateur radio. It was no effort to hold a frequency and it was fun to hear the pile ups focused on us.

NY4I, Bridge Builder

 

SPARC member Tom, NY4I has taken responsibility for the bridge program that enables two Radio Contestpopular ham radio programs to share QSO data.

“N1MM” is a popular contesting program that is configurable for competition in most international Radiosport contests. “DXKeeper” is the logging component of a suite of programs known as “DX Labs.” The “bridging” program Tom is working on transfers the QSOs entered in N1MM to DXKeeper in real time. Today (12/29/2015), several SPARC members met at the SPARC Clubhouse to work on several Here's what's happeningprojects to help with contesting and other activities at the W4GAC station. Bob N2ESP, John KI4UIP, Dave KR4U, Ron KP2N and Tom NY4I worked on various projects that needed to be done for this weekend’s ARRL RTTY contest. Race to a Million

A million points, that is… As a tune-up for the CW contest part of Field Day, several operators of the SPARC Contest Group fired up the W4GAC station to have some fun in the CQ WPX CW contest. 2015 ARRL RTTY Roundup Result

Ron KP2N reports that the club station exceeded the last few year’s score in this past weekend’s ARRL RTTY Roundup at the W4GAC station. Using the contest callsign W4TA, several RTTY operators activated the club station to compete in this RTTY favorite. Results from this year and a few years past are:
