Minutes of SPARC Meeting – February 7, 2020

Meeting called to Order by President Pat Connelly – AA0O – followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Introduction of guests and member roll call.  

Previous Club meeting minute posted online – votes to accept them.  

Department Monthly Reports –

Starting balance:  $9,785.82

Income:  $466.00

Expenses:  $118.60

Ending balance:  $10,133.22

During the severe storm, the tower sustained damage (pictures on Club website) – cannot be tilted over – cannot be retracted down – studying our options.  Wire antennas taken down – 40M vertical is OK.  No damage to radio room.  Approximately 25% of DMI roof covering damaged.

All repeater antennas are fine – all equipment is operating well.

West Central Florida section Anniversary – special station call being circulated around the section – Call: K4WCF 

> Meeting Program – 

Home Brew night – 

Norm – KA1IJA – had a concoction of various monitoring capabilities in an enclosure he will soon have to enlarge – One major capability was aircraft monitoring – within a specified area – he plans to add echolink, APRS, and VoIP.  

Bob – had a power distribution box which was still in progress – various outputs available to assorted gear.  

Joe – W4CBJ – “back to basics” – had a transmitter test device (a light bulb!) – dummy load – and ZEPP antenna.  

Charles – created a spreadsheet for calculating length / frequency when dealing with end-fed random length wire antennas.  You plug in values (length / type of cable / frequency / etc.) – it gives you the rest of the information.  

Pat Connelly – AA0O – demonstrated a home-made power/SWR meter.  

The meeting adjourned at 8:53pm.
