Getting Started in Ham Radio

Welcome to our website. The St. Petersburg Amateur Radio Club is here to help you with your goal to become a ham radio operator. We have regular club meetings with informative programs and many members to help you get started. We encourage you to attend a club meeting (info on the upper right menu) and talk to our many members about why they got into ham radio and what it can do for you.  For immediate help in answering any questions, contact someone on the Elmer (Mentor) List or e-mail SPARCnewham@gmail.com

In the meantime, you can check out some resources from our national amateur radio organization, the ARRL. They have information on all the steps you need to take to obtain an amateur radio license. When you are ready to take your test, we offer twice monthly testing sessions where you can take your test, and if you pass; receive your own amateur radio callsign 2 weeks later.

Here is the ARRL link for more info and we hope to see you at a meeting and hear you on the air!
